Freeze the tires. Put them in your freezer over night and then sand them in the morning while still frozen. Freezing makes the rubber hard and easier to sand. I will definitely try this on my next model build.

Lonestar Motorsports Park in Sealy held their Legends of Drag Racing nostalgia weekend back in March. You’ll be able to see photos from that event at the June meeting (June 14). In April, the Australian V8 Supercars visited Circuit of the Americas in Austin, and you can see those photos at the July club meeting (July 12). Below are a couple of photos to wet your appetite.

This was the third time HAMS has supported such an activity, the first two times during the Super Chevy Shows also at the Baytown facility. These activities are good for promoting scale modelling for today’s youth as well as getting our club known among the families that have a big interest in cars. An added benefit is we are building a mixture of kits for our own Make-N-Take activity conducted during our August show.

Saturday August 3, 2013. This is a bit earlier than previous years so to not conflict with the IPMS Nationals in Colorado (8/14-17) since many from Texas like to attend the National event. The contest theme is “Anything Shelby” in salute to Carroll Shelby. So any land vehicle he drove, designed, or built is eligible. And don’t forget his chili.
